''Tis time to plant them now ' he said | A |
'If they shall bloom in Spring' | G |
'But every bulb ' said I 'seems dead | A |
And such an ugly thing ' | F |
'The pulse of life I cannot feel | H |
The skin is dried and brown | I |
Now look ' a bulb beneath my heel | H |
I crushed and trampled down | I |
In anger then he said to me | J |
'You've killed a lovely thing | G |
A scarlet blossom that would be | J |
Some morning in the Spring ' | F |
'Last night a greater sin was thine ' | F |
To him I slowly said | A |
'You trampled on the dead of mine | K |
And told me they are dead | A |
