Autumn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDCEE FFGHHGII JJKLLKMM

The leaves are falling one by oneA
The Summer days are past and goneB
The nights are cool and dampC
The little children think it strangeD
At tea time for they note the changeD
We have to light the lampC
To roost the chickens earlier goE
And everything has ceased to growE
-
The pumpkins now are big and roundF
And turning yellow on the groundF
The leaves are drifting downG
The farm seems bigger than beforeH
'T is stripped of all its wondrous storeH
Only the russets brownG
Still linger on the trees and theyI
Will soon be picked and packed awayI
-
The cellar's stored with rare delightsJ
To while away the winter nightsJ
The squeaking cider millK
Is gushing forth its nectar rareL
A drink that all the gods call fairL
And O the world is stillK
A hush has settled over allM
The Summer's gone and it is FallM
