The Summer days are past and gone | B |
The nights are cool and damp | C |
The little children think it strange | D |
At tea time for they note the change | D |
We have to light the lamp | C |
To roost the chickens earlier go | E |
And everything has ceased to grow | E |

The pumpkins now are big and round | F |
And turning yellow on the ground | F |
The leaves are drifting down | G |
The farm seems bigger than before | H |
'T is stripped of all its wondrous store | H |
Only the russets brown | G |
Still linger on the trees and they | I |
Will soon be picked and packed away | I |

The cellar's stored with rare delights | J |
To while away the winter nights | J |
The squeaking cider mill | K |
Is gushing forth its nectar rare | L |
A drink that all the gods call fair | L |
And O the world is still | K |
A hush has settled over all | M |
The Summer's gone and it is Fall | M |
