At Dawn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFF GGHHFF IIJJKK

They come to my room at the break of the dayA
With their faces all smiles and their minds full of playA
They come on their tip toes and silently creepB
To the edge of the bed where I'm lying asleepB
And then at a signal on which they agreeC
With a shout of delight they jump right onto meC
-
They lift up my eyelids and tickle my noseD
And scratch at my cheeks with their little pink toesD
And sometimes to give them a laugh and a scareE
I snap and I growl like a cinnamon bearE
Then over I roll and with three kids astrideF
I gallop away on their feather bed rideF
-
I've thought it all over Man's biggest mistakeG
Is in wanting to sleep when his babes are awakeG
When they come to his room for that first bit of funH
He should make up his mind that his sleeping is doneH
He should share in the laughter they bring to his sideF
And start off the day with that feather bed rideF
-
Oh they're fun at their breakfast and fun at their lunchI
Any hour of the day they're a glorious bunchI
When they're togged up for Sundays they're certainly fineJ
And I'm glad in my heart I can call them all mineJ
But I think that the time that I like them the bestK
Is that hour in the morning before they are dressedK
