Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEGHDHD HIHIJKJK

In the corner she's left the mechanical toyA
On the chair is her Teddy Bear fineB
The things that I thought she would really enjoyA
Don't seem to be quite in her lineB
There's the flaxen haired doll that is lovely to seeC
And really expensively dressedD
Left alone all uncared for and strange though it beC
She likes her rag dolly the bestD
-
Oh the money we spent and the plans that we laidE
And the wonderful things that we boughtF
There are toys that are cunningly skillfully madeE
But she seems not to give them a thoughtG
She was pleased when she woke and discovered them thereH
But never a one of us guessedD
That it isn't the splendor that makes a gift rareH
She likes her rag dolly the bestD
-
There's the flaxen haired doll with the real human hairH
There's the Teddy Bear left all aloneI
There's the automobile at the foot of the stairH
And there is her toy telephoneI
We thought they were fine but a little child's eyesJ
Look deeper than ours to find charmK
And now she's in bed and the rag dolly liesJ
Snuggled close on her little white armK
