A Preference Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IGIGJGJG

I''D rather be considered dullA
Than use my brain denouncing thingsB
I'd rather not be criticalA
And utter words that carry stingsB
I'd rather never speak at allC
Than speak as one who seems to feelD
That other's faults howe'er so smallC
It proves him clever to revealD
-
I have no wish to pose on earthE
As born to judge my fellow menF
I'd rather praise them for their worthE
If failures bid them try againF
If faulty effort I beholdG
In silence let me pass it byH
If I must leave it unextolledG
At least the toiler shall not sighH
-
No reputation would I gainI
For wisdom if in gaining itG
I cause some humble worker painI
And wound him by my flash of witG
There is no cleverness in sneersJ
A fool can scoff in manner pertG
Great wisdom by this test appearsJ
In never saying things that hurtG
