The boys an' girls along his street | D |
- | |
An' all that Jim could say was 'Woof ' | - |

Or like our Jerry when he's mad | G |
An' growls at peddler men that's bad | G |
While grown ups were afraid of Jim | A |
Kids could do anything with him | A |
- | |
One day a little boy like me | B |
That had a sister Marjorie | B |
Was walking through the woods an' they | H |
Heard something 'woofing' down that way | H |
An' they was scared an' stood stock still | I |
An' wished they had a gun to kill | I |
Whatever 'twas but little boys | J |
Don't have no guns that make a noise | J |
- | |
An' soon the 'woofing' closer grew | K |
An' then a bear came into view | K |
The biggest bear you ever saw | L |
Ma's muff was smaller than his paw | L |
He saw the children an' he said | C |
'I ain't a goin' to kill you dead | C |
You needn't turn away an' run | M |
I'm only scarin' you for fun ' | - |
- | |
An' then he stood up just like those | N |
Big bears in circuses an' shows | N |
An' danced a jig an' rolled about | O |
An' said 'Woof Woof ' which meant 'Look out ' | - |
An' turned a somersault as slick | P |
As any boy can do the trick | P |
Those children had been told of Jim | A |
An' they decided it was him | A |
- | |
They stroked his nose when they got brave | Q |
An' followed him into his cave | Q |

I've asked a thousand boys or so | R |
That question an' not one's said no ' | - |
What happened then I cannot say | H |
'Cause next I knew 'twas light as day | H |
