Manuel Comninos Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEBFBGHI JBK

One dreary September dayA
Emperor Manuel KomninosB
felt his death was nearC
The court astrologers bribed of course went on babblingD
about how many years he still had to liveE
But while they were having their sayB
he remebered an old religious customF
and ordered ecclesiastical vestmentsB
to be brought from a monasteryG
and he put them on glad to assumeH
the modest image of a priest or monkI
-
Happy all those who believeJ
and like Emperor Manuel end their livesB
dressed modestly in their faithK
