Dead Before Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCCDC

Ah changed and cold how changed and very coldA
With stiffened smiling lips and cold calm eyesB
Changed yet the same much knowing little wiseB
This was the promise of the days of oldA
Grown hard and stubborn in the ancient mouldA
Grown rigid in the sham of lifelong liesB
We hoped for better things as years would riseB
But it is over as a tale once toldA
All fallen the blossom that no fruitage boreC
All lost the present and the future timeD
All lost all lost the lapse that went beforeC
So lost till death shut to the opened doorC
So lost from chime to everlasting chimeD
So cold and lost forever evermoreC
