De Profundis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH

Oh why is heaven built so farA
Oh why is earth set so remoteB
I cannot reach the nearest starA
That hangs afloatB
-
I would not care to reach the moonC
One round monotonous of changeD
Yet even she repeats her tuneC
Beyond my rangeD
-
I never watch the scatter'd fireE
Of stars or sun's far trailing trainF
But all my heart is one desireE
And all in vainF
-
For I am bound with fleshly bandsG
Joy beauty lie beyond my scopeH
I strain my heart I stretch my handsG
And catch at hopeH
