Howrah Bridge Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFDG HIJKLMNO PQKKRST DUVWXYZA2J

They built me with their sweatsA
And enslaved bloodB
As a high mark of their mightC
Wearing the chest of Calcuttan cultureD
Since then I have been standing strongE
On my plastered feetF
Like the two mammoth poles bound togetherD
Yet as different as East and WestG
-
Bridging the gulf between the peopleH
Quenching their thirstI
Generation after generationJ
With the water ever flowing under meK
I harbor beneath my bosomL
A cauldron of composite culturesM
Unifying their heart their mind their languagesN
All fused into one As a wholeO
-
Millions and millions smile in myriad waysP
Tagore sings in their heartQ
National song of unity despite diversityK
And hymns of humanityK
Invoking their secular conscienceR
To embrace one and allS
Moving alone walking aloneT
-
As a witness to the holy riverD
Of universal love and social pathosU
I have nursed and healedV
Many a man my offspring who is the true manW
Of heart and mind with cosmopolitan frameX
With the head held high in esteemY
Like the tricolor flagZ
Unfurling the glorious past and prideA2
Of the nationJ
