The Seasons' Comfort Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCBDDB EEFGGFGGF HHIJJIKKI

Dry thine eyes Doll the stars above us shineA
God of His goodness made them mine and thineA
His silver have we gotten and His goldB
Whilst there's a sun to call us in the mornC
To ply the hook among amid the yellow cornC
That such a mine of pretty gems doth holdB
For there's the poppy half in sorrowD
Greeting sleepy eyed the morrowD
And the corn flower dainty tire for a sweetheart sunny poll'dB
-
Dry thine eyes Doll the woods are all our ownE
The woods that soon shall take a braver toneE
What time the frosts first silver Nature's hairF
The birds shall sing their best for thee and meG
And every sunrise listeners will we beG
And so of singing get the goodliest shareF
When the thrushes sing so sweetlyG
We would fain be footing featlyG
But our hearts dance time instead in the throbbing matin airF
-
Dry thine eyes Doll there's Love to feed our fireH
Not for the buying but for the desireH
Winter ne'er quenched a blaze so bravely fedI
And Sleep I wot will grudge us not his bestJ
In winter earlier sink the suns to restJ
And eke the sooner shall our toils be spedI
When in the embers glowingK
There'll be love charms worth the knowingK
Or at Yule tide mazes threaded with the mistletoe o'erheadI
