Guard Your Tongue

Vanessa Dizon Alvarez

If you did not see with your eyes,
nor hear with your ears, let silence be wise.
Don’t twist a tale from a fleeting thought,
nor spread a fire that truth has not caught.

A careless word can cut like a knife,
a rumor can ruin the rhythm of life.
So guard your tongue, let honesty stay,
and keep false shadows far away.

Speak what is real, let kindness bloom,
don’t plant deceit that leads to gloom.
For trust is built when words are true,
and the world will listen more to you.
