Volcanic Eruption

Tatenda Gonorashe

Landslides on hillsides and roadsides
Coincides oft-times with wave tides
I hear sounds of molten lover, immortal lava
Blasting from deep down the inner core
Hard to obstruct, but disrupts the regular
Telling me things that soothe my inner being

I am outdoor, lonesome and pathetic
When I hear in my vicinity, a noise so kinetic
But what strikes my eyes is aesthetic
So anesthetic that it renders me static
I hear his voice once, but my heart has to bounce
Pounds, even without a single ounce of strength

I’m not old but I’m not a toddler, I’m not told
But I grin like one, for I know he is the one
The future is bright, Love won, love at first sight
Emotional fight between eyes and the heart
I’m in a trance, a race with my own self
My world has been affected, in fact, infected

You say a volcano erupts and subsides
But like an oregano, it heals and I take sides
When the eruption ends, look what we have
Look how those who have fallen in love behave
We are in our own world, owing to one word
In this old universe of love, we never grow old

Now I feel butterflies all over my face
Landforms and tectonics on arid facades
Goosebumps and loose clump parades
Lover domes and plateaus on blushing faces
See what love can do to a disgruntled lone wolf
Off-grid, from haters, craters and bitter axis

When you hear the sound of volcanic eruption
When you feel the signs of global corruption
When you see molten magma in slow-motion
Run like a mad man, for it’s not man made
Love is a natural force, and it is what it is
Let those in love be, mind your own, busy bee

Yes, like water, love doesn’t use any knotter
It conquers in simply runoff and percolation
But it also erupts and you have no option
Caught not between a rock and a hard place
BUT IN THE HOT BISQUE OF MOLTEN LOVER
At the touch of a lava, everyone becomes a victim
