The War In Me

Adams Dauda

There's a war within me
And my soul is at the end.
My heart is my enemy
And also my friend

The ladders are cast
Against the fabric of my mind
My thoughts outlast
The evil that tries to climb

In the aftermath of the flames
Amidst the coals I see
Mind has played it games
And not one deed left to be

My heart is as the sun
It burns and spurns gas
And so my dear run
This day won't be your last

Time will turn its mighty wheel
And we will ride on its back
We will have a drink, a meal
With no room for hate and lack
