The Light At The End

Adams Dauda

A highway traffic
Everybody goes and comes
I wish I had this
But everyone wishes the same
So who deserves to have?
Bodies bump into each other
So close yet different worlds apart
A broad field of battle
And yet the war is not to be seen
This is no ordinary war
Where warriors themselves are their own foes
And they are as strong as they think them
And they breathe when their foes do
They fly when their foes sleep
They sink when their foes dream
And die when their foes live
Then this should be like any war
Except there are no sides
Just needy people
With filled barren minds
And they brace themselves
For an impact
Sustained till the dusk of life
One no one can be ready for
For the way of life is not a highway
If it is in itself a path
Then a subway
Where the lights are dim
And we walk with wonder
Lonesome and seeking
For the light at the end
