Gallery

I looked into the gallery
The little icon on the mobile screen
It looked captivating, I was willing to explore.
Memories, they said are filled in there
I hoped the same too

I gathered up my courage and clicked on the little icon
I scrolled and scrolled
And saw the faces of unreal
'Cause they were smiling in the photos
With their energetic action poses
But deathbeds enjoyed their companies
While I just kept scrolling.

Scrolling over a 100 images
I found my favorite one
Saw a person alive in it, and in my heart.
I looked around in my room
To find him, once again
Little did I know, I was lost in the gallery
Forgetting the present.

Poet's note: This is inspired from a personal experience of a girl who has seen more deaths than life and most of pictures in her gallery are of dead people. She reflects her thoughts in this poem.
