Mask

A defeated Amazon,
Walking amongst masked phantoms
All she saw were terrifying reflections
Of her shattered inner self

The same self that for many years
Had kept on sowing in barren land
Which yielded harvests of empty promises
And bouquets of malice and deceit

Broken vessels rendered her barefoot and naked.
She lay on the grass near the lake.
She lay curled up in a foetal position,
Waiting,
Waiting,
Waiting.
