Chinar Tree

CHINAR TREE

Deep rooted; strong and tall
Its cool shade beats all
In scorchy summer days
Even with a meak breeze
Its branches gently sway
Fights bravely the fiercest storms
Stands upright; shames to fall
When brown and rotten from inside
Shelters in its cave friends and foes
Kashmiris are like chinar trees
Loving, never losing cool
Unbending and yielding not
To the ferocious butchers
