Talisman (a Poem By Olga Halova Translated Into English)

I've put my heart out of my chest,
I hold it.
It streams,
flows,
juices
with a string of red blood
between my fingers.
What I have promised – I give to you,
so take it
while it's alive,
loving,
warm
and it trembles.
I am left alone,
it's easier without it:
it doesn't ache,
doesn't miss.
My nearest has become my enemy.
With you it beats tenderly and carefully,
and without love it is
cold,
bloodless,
unneeded,
empty.
So take it!
Let it be your talisman.
