A Complicated Marriage

I know that you’re a confident woman.
You said nothing could make you stop loving me,
And your feelings for me would never change.
Cara, I have something to say to you.
It will prove whether you meant what you said or not.
I’m in a complicated marriage.

I wanted to tell you this before,
But I didn’t want to risk losing you.
I want us to continue seeing each other.
We have such a good relationship.
And I couldn’t let the truth ruin our lives.
I hope you understand the situation.

Cara, your countenance has fallen.
You’re not responding to what I’m saying.
And you’re reacting in a strange way.
Now’s the time to vent your anger.
I don’t blame you for being mad at me,
But tell me what you intend to do.

Will you continue the affair with me?
I wish I could see what you’re thinking now.
We’re in love with each other,
And I’m in a complicated marriage,
So I thought it was worth hiding the truth.

Much to my relief, you begin to speak.
You knew about it all along.
And you were wondering when I plan to tell you.
You took the risk and started a romance.
It was the wrong thing to do,
But you loved me, and you knew that I loved you.
You also know my wife and daughter.

I thought I was hiding something from you.
I’m so surprised to hear you say these things.
How did you find out about it?
Perhaps that’s not the important thing.
I’m glad you took this approach.
It’s better to pretend not to know the truth.
