Tomorrow

Pregnant
Not predictable
Spewing forth
What it wills
Acceptable or not
Good or evil;

We plan
We propose
We plant
Anticipate to reap
Bountifully, it comes
And with it
Variables never anticipated;

When we boast
Of the success of today
When we pride ourselves
Of our greatness and achievements
Tomorrow comes
With a fall and humiliation.

Poet's note: Time changes everything. When we make plans and proposals, we are not certain they will sail through because "tomorrow" can turn things upside down. The poem encourages us not to boast as we cannot be too certain tomorrow will leave us as we are.
