Pray

Pray
A wise man once said
The devil remembers you not
For when he does
All your protection
All your guard
All your charm
All your prayers

All your incantations
Would come to nothing
Like Job you would a pawn
In his devilish hands be
Tossed about hither and thither
And nothing shall in your life
Ever be as it should,
You'd take a mile forward
One thousand backwards

And not in this sweet life
Would the slightest sense make,
For you, like a spectator be
When you ought to take full charge
and centre stage;
So pray, my good friend
Pray his eyes be blinded
When he looks your way.
