Night

The long shadows
Of the evening metamorphose
Into the darkness of night
All things retire
To their shells, some
To rest and renew

Others out of fear
Barricade themselves in,
Not able to enjoy
The free breeze and the millions
Of stars flickering in the open
Skies extenuated by the darkness;

The sick and indisposed, their pains
Increased by the loneliness and lonesomeness
Of the night long for the night
To end and give way to the sun's warmness at dawn
The evil, their faces and atrocities
Covered in the darkness scheme
Their ways to avoid the exposure of light;

Night made by God
For His creatures to repose
And regenerate themselves to face
The toils of the day
Is good to all
The good, the bad, the ugly.

Poet's note: "Night" looks at the advantages and disadvantages of the night and darkness. However, the poet thinks that the advantages of the night out weighs the disadvantages because God created it for His creatures to rest.
