God Gave A Loaf To Every Bird
791
God gave a Loaf to every Bird-
But just a Crumb-to Me-
I dare not eat it-tho' I starve-
My poignant luxury-
To own it-touch it-
Prove the feat-that made the Pellet mine-
Too happy-for my Sparrow's chance-
For Ampler Coveting-
It might be Famine-all around-
I could not miss an Ear-
Such Plenty smiles upon my Board-
My Garner shows so fair-
I wonder how the Rich-may feel-
An Indiaman-An Earl-
I deem that I-with but a Crumb-
Am Sovereign of them all-
