A Drop Fell On The Apple Tree
794
A Drop Fell on the Apple Tree-
Another-on the Roof-
A Half a Dozen kissed the Eaves-
And made the Gables laugh-
A few went out to help the Brook
That went to help the Sea-
Myself Conjectured were they Pearls-
What Necklace could be-
The Dust replaced, in Hoisted Roads-
The Birds jocoser sung-
The Sunshine threw his Hat away-
The Bushes-spangles flung-
The Breezes brought dejected Lutes-
And bathed them in the Glee-
Then Orient showed a single Flag,
And signed the Fete away-
