Innocence Lost

Zeitgeist’s a movie of revelations
Shocking, brutal loss of innocence
Dim daylights of our assumptions:
Religion, society and great wars
Mired in conspiracies and lies
Haven’t ever changed over aeons
As the affluent pull the strings
Manipulating world’s economies
Satisfying selfish gains and plans
Creating crises causing casualties
Surreptitiously so decimating lives
Great let-down of vaunted morals
Paraded by theological practices
Monsters these of ill-gotten gains
Making a hell on Earth in pretence;
Promised aid, freedom and grants Create cruel scheming enterprises
Morals and ethical considerations
Sidelined to siphon away funds
Clandestine and quite devious
Mock the few earnest do-gooders;
Can we ever redeem ourselves
For law and order so precious?
Being mindful with common sense
Be alert to not lose our innocence!

Poet's note: A poetic movie review that is quite disturbing!
