Nelson Mandela
Let's raise our voices in exhultation
To a man who fought for liberation
His 27 years of sacrifice
Removed from his children and his wife
A Xhoza Madiba from Transkei
Continually challenging and asking why?
Apartheidd's preference for a chosen race
What was wrong with the colour if his face?
Joining the African National Congress
Brought negative publicity from the press
Named a cunning African terrorist
Became a strategic revolutionist
Nothing they did would keep him silent
Not even his time on Robben Island
Equality and freedom was his goal
The desire imprinted in his soul
Damaging his Legal reputation
For a constitutional dispensation
Yes, he fought and won the fights
Ensuring Basic Human Rights
Strictly denouncing the participation
In any form of segregation
Strength and character that gave rise
To him receiving the Nobel Peace Prize
Nelson, Rohlihlahla, Mandela
Lovingly honoured and remembered forever.
