Ordinary Man

I have had dreams, I have set goals
Ive achieved some, had some dislodged and yet to achieve many.
I believe in myself, I believe in others
I know I’m not perfect, I don’t expect others to be either
For I’m just an ordinary man.

My experience of disunity has made me value peace
My torrid times of hunger have made me appreciate only a slice
I've come to understand: the problem is not the gun, but the person pulling the trigger.
For I could fight for just a bun with a person even bigger
If you didn't see me struggle and toil
If you didn't see me crawl on the soil
You wouldn't understand why I say:
I’m just an ordinary man.
