Precious Words

I know we've come a long way,
I know I'm no longer a part of you.
Yet I remember like it was yesterday,
Precious words that were few.

You knocked on my door with hopes,
That I wanted to live up to.
Yet a few hurdles down those roads,
You gave up, you flew.

I saw you on every road I set foot,
I saw you wherever I looked.
I saw you when I didn't want to look,
I saw you in every girl reading a book.

I couldn't bear the pain when you left,
Memories of sweet moments spent.
My senses longed for your scent
My heart yearned for your presence.

I waited to hear from you daily,
Wrote letters with every sunset.
You're the woman I loved truly,
The one I'd never ever forget.
