No Prayers Beyond The Grave

Seke Bharu

You were handsome, you always had the lime light
Daddy knew it, he always dressed you pretty
He was so proud of you, he would show you off anywhere
But I never was jealousy anyway
All I knew is I had a big brother.

I always wanted to be like you
I competed with you to be you
We fought, you always beat me
In the fury, the rage, I knew I would never beat you
But in death you didn't have to beat me.

I remember the school days
The small twins, we were the center of attention
But only me, knew what a big brother I had in you
You would always be my big brother no matter what
I shunned the attention, I could have loved you more.

Strange how much I loved you
But never would show a clue about it
We grew up, and so did the distance
The river between us grew wider
But you always had my back, still my big brother.

I ignored the adoration I had for you
Always knew nothing would come between us
Ours was unbreakable, cast in diamond
It was the best thing I had for keeps
That was a dear and loving brother.

I let the waters of the river rise too high
I took it for granted they would subside
Never thought I could run out of time
To walk to you, when the flood went down
But when it did I got stuck in the mud.

I regret every day, those opportunities I let go
I should never have waited that long
To show you the love I always knew I had for you
I now hold it in shame, can't find a you to give it to

It's such a heavy burden to bear
If only you could give me another chance
I promise I will never let you out of my sight.
Remember me telling you
That for as long as you lived, your position I wouldn't take
You never would have known, how sweet it was to be a little brother
I wouldn't see my big brother cry for help
Because I always thought it was my preserve
For that, I pay dearly, my heart cries for you daily.

I wish and wish everyday
I could live the same life again
I would give you my love every minute of my life
I would never imagine
How empty life would be without you.
