Pain

Laban Matara

In his boots and military fatigues
Mike unknowingly inspires
Boys in the village with bleak futures
Boys with dry dreams
Young men whose hearts,
Are filled to the brim with hope
The flawless public facade he wears,
Covers a million regrets
Houses an ocean of pain
But they can't read.
The flashes of traumatizing scenes
Strewn brains, scattered innards
Sends him into delirium
His inner being in a furnace burns
No one notices and cares
He conceals all in that smile
And tenderly touches his gun
A friend in all seasons
A silencer once he can't hold no more
