A Poem On Night

Kenneth R. Jenkins

as the ink of pen
long, dark and mysterious
that comes when the stars are up
when the moon is smilin' at the earth
and cool as a wind
for me this night.
must i fear?
must i panic?
must i bless it?
must i curse it?
for i am not afraid
of the night.
and alas when the stars are disappearing
and the moon stops smilin'
and the cool of the wind stops blowin'
there comes--
daybreak among high
God's creation
it's goin' to be a lovely day!
