The Reluctant Flyer

Eshunson Writes

Wings crib in the nest,
Reluctant to fly through the wind
at daybreak.

Stomach growls
Eaglets frail and pale.

She cunningly flutters her wings
To the jungle in desperation,
But hands respond with prices and rules.
She turns home, alas!
And cribs her wings in the nest.
