The Rat Is The Concisest Tenant.

Emily Dickinson

1356

The Rat is the concisest Tenant.
He pays no Rent.
Repudiates the Obligation-
On Schemes intent

Balking our Wit
To sound or circumvent-
Hate cannot harm
A Foe so reticent-
Neither Decree prohibit him-
Lawful as Equilibrium.
