What I Long To Be

Bill Brian Kipkoech

When I have fears that I may cease to be,
Before my pen has gleaned my teening brain,
Before high-piled books,in charactery come to existence
Before my words steam from them pages opening
And vapours into world men's highs,
Before I go dry and stop the penning.

When I behold say am downing my pen and books.
I'll be satisfied still that they saw my works.
I'll say I shared my mind and asset with thy world
Then I'll deem myself an achiever
Who said and was heard,
Who penned and stained all's minds,
And shall forever be in memory of all I wrote to.
But now,
Till love and fame in nothingness do sink.
