The Loss Of A Spark

Allie Rose

They wonder why she’s changed
Why she’s so quiet now
“Where did her spark go?” They ask
“What happened to her sunshine?”
And how she wants to answer them
Tell them the truth
But she can’t
“I’m still happy! But what do you need?”
Then they forget
She wishes she could just spill everything
She wishes she could just say
“It was you. You used it all.”
That’s why her spark is gone
There’s nothing left
She talks a little less
Laughs very rarely
Her smile is just a memory
She knows she’s fading
But she doesn’t care because she’s changing
She doesn’t really care if she has friends
She doesn’t really care at all
She feels distant from everyone
Now how does that make sense?
She does so much for others
And takes no time for herself
Sure she watched self care videos
Sure she physically takes care of herself
But her mind is falling apart
She mindlessly scrolls
Every day feels cloudy
She keeps her window closed
And only gets up to grab a charger
In her bed she lays
Thinking about the times she was actually happy
Her face is red and tears are in her eyes from laughing so hard
But if she wanted she could just stop
Like nothing ever happened
She loves hanging out with her friends
But lately she just wants to stay inside and lay in bed
She listens to soft music
Lost in her thoughts
Floating through her mind
She spaces out every day
And her leg becomes even bouncier
She makes new friends wherever she goes
But she can’t give anymore
It’s built off of false hope
She doesn’t know why
But she lost her spark
