I Never Fought Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGHI JKLDMN

I was a doormatA
I was your slaveB
Tourture and pain were the words one would use to describe my lifeC
But now I tell my storyD
-
All roses and paddles filled up a roomE
Candles lit upF
At least they were not as bright as my smileG
And I took a sit not knowing that I had to payH
By blood and tearsI
-
I would listen to Maya Angelou's Still I riseJ
Every word would disolve so fast in my dark and shallow heartK
Not knowing how to act on those deep cutting wordsL
I stayed till my mother had to say goodbye to meD
In a room filled with women who foughtM
And she asked herself why didn't she fightN

Poet's note: I wrote this for every woman that went through abuse and for those who are still enduring it so that they know once they raise their hand you LEAVE
