The Violet. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEE ABFFGGHI JJKKLMNN OOPPQQBA

Little simple violetA
Glittering with dewy wetB
Hidden by protecting grassC
All unheeded we should passC
Were it not the rich perfumeD
Leads us on to find the bloomD
Which so modestly does dwellE
Sweetly scenting all the dellE
-
Simple little violetA
Lessons I shall ne'er forgetB
By thy modest mien were taughtF
Rich in peace with wisdom fraughtF
Oft I've laid me down to restG
With thy blossoms on my breastG
Screen'd from noontide's sunny floodH
By some monarch of the woodI
-
I have thought and dreamed of theeJ
Clad in such simplicityJ
Yet so rich in fragrance sweetK
That exhales from thy retreatK
And I've seen the gaudy flowerL
Blest alone with beauty's dowerM
Have looked admired then bid them goN
Violet I love thee soN
-
Rival thou hast none to fearO
For to me thou art most dearO
Buttercups and daisies vieP
'With thy charms to please the eyeP
Roses red and lillies whiteQ
All enchanting to the sightQ
Yield me joys sincere but yetB
Thou'rt my favorite VioletA
