Yet they look at me and can't see any flaws | B |
I have left the wrong path and my awful ways | A |
To walk with the Lord in the light of His laws | B |

They wonder at the persona I am now | C |
And can't believe the offender I was then | D |
Can the vilest offender they used to know | E |
Now turn the blameless among the sons of men | D |

But the saint I am now I am by God's grace | F |
I was the prodigal son of yesterday | G |
Only by His grace have I come to this place | F |
I'm the same black sheep I was that went astray | G |

The Shepherd searched for me though I went away | G |
And bought me back with a price where I was sold | H |
He made me the perfect saint I am today | G |
And restored me a member of his sheepfold | G |

So they stare at me and wonder if it's true | I |
That I truly was the bane of yesterday | G |
And some even ask Can this really be you | I |
So much in doubt that they know not what to say | G |

But I'm only the product of God's good grace | F |
The saint I am now could not have been alone | J |
He picked me from the dust and transformed my ways | A |
And saving me from sin He called me His own | J |

Now how else shall I say of the saint I am now | C |
How else shall they hear of the saint I am today | G |
For e'en words fail me so much that they know not how | C |
The saint I am now was the bane of yesterday | G |

Poet's note: 'The Saint I am Today' is a poem that expresses the work of God's Grace in a sinners life. It talks about the indescribable and incredible change that the Grace of God wrought in a sinner's life.
It is dedicated to an anonymous friend who sought for help for freedom from the bondage of sin.
