Rumours

I love the rumours, they flutter and fly,
Painting new portraits of me passing by.
Amazing inventions, wild tales they weave,
Stories of wonders I never conceived.

They crown me a hero, they call me a thief,
Each whisper a mask, each echo belief.
Yet in their laughter, I strangely see,
A carnival mirror reflecting me.

So let them chatter, let gossip ignite,
I’ll sparkle in shadows, I’ll dance in the night.
For every false tale, every fanciful guise,
Reveals hidden truths through borrowed eyes.
