Daddy When You Wanna Be

I was doing just fine without you
I didn't need to reunite
Didn't need anything from you
You already proved you weren't the man I needed you to be

Yeah, I'll go to this visitation.
Sit down and give you a little conversation
But you don't mean much to me
No bond can ever be restored

You did this when you chose not to be a dad
But I'm supposed to feel bad, show pity, and cater to you and your needs
But where was this when it was me

You're just a daddy when you wanna be
I've accepted it
Stop stressing it
Do you and just leave me alone

I'd rather walk down the aisle alone
Then with you or anyone else
Because you don't care, you just sit there
And wonder why things are the way that they are

Poet's note: This poem is about that father figure who is supposed to be there but isn't, and constantly hurts you, and thinks returning will fix everything. And I wrote it October 1st 2025.
