Titanic Lover
Woke up quickly from a dream
Once more it was of you and me
Running naked along soft sand
Ocean crashing around us again
A vision in my sleep for 50 years
Your deep blue eyes erase my fears
They used to say follow the balls
Keep them up don't let them fall
If you drop down from way up high
Then In the dream open your eyes
You should bounce on the ground
Instead hit hard and death is found
Saw your name on the Titanic list
You were not on the rescue ship
It said Edith Evans traveled alone
To start a new life on the east coast
Gotta rescue my beauty
Get her off that ship
Build a time machine
Edith won't survive the trip
Hope I don't get stuck there
May not ever make it back
I need a Titanic love to last
You're my Titanic lover
Way back in time
Can't seem to reach you
Always on my mind
Want to feel your body
Lying next to mine
You're my Titanic lover
Way back in time
Don't want you to float
When I close my eyes
Need to see you in a boat
With me by your side
You're my Titanic lover
Way back in time
Somehow I will get to you
Or I will surely die
Made a crazy time machine
Found all the parts I did need
Internet sure made it happen
Gotta trust this wild contraption
Grabbed my cell phone
Keyed in the proper code
Jumped into the time machine
Back to the Titanic I now go
Heard a sound like screaming cats
Burnt tire smell happened next
Blinding lights jumped all around
1.21 gigawatts yelled Doc Brown
The warmth of the time machine
Suddenly changed like ice cream
I lay now on a shiny wood floor
Jumped as a ship whistle roared
Stood on my feet looking about
Those on shore gave out a shout
People near me hollered and waved
Heard folks yelling the Titanic name
Had to keep myself laying low
Looking for Edith on the big boat
Finally found her my heart flipped
Had to get to know her really quick
See her walking alone on deck
Approach her to talk for just a bit
The bugle sounds we eat together
Holding her close in icy weather
I use my English charms
Woo her ever so strong
See emoji love in her eyes
We lay together that night
Saw Captain Smith on the deck
Grabbed his arm pulled him back
Stared intently into his brown eyes
Said "Change course now or die"
He freed his arm to straighten up
Slammed me to the wall so rough
"Don't start rumors or you will pay"
"Were making good time to USA"
Told him how there is ice around
He said lookouts will call if found
Instructed me to return to my cabin
Or I'll be on a 'stairway to heaven'
The iceberg hit the Titanic ship
I know the outcome of this trip
Got Edith Into a boat right away
Now I am not allowed to stay
I hold my smartphone but it's dead
Not too smart I thought in my head
Glanced down at the still icy water
Jumped in like an Olympic diver
Swam about for over two hours
Looking for her boat on the water
My body was warm like hot gruel
Due to the wetsuit under my suit
Climbed on board her life boat #4
Some lady smacked me with an oar
Edith caressed me rubbing my head
Once In New York we would wed
Stuck back in time living In 1912
Got a farm in New York life is well
Smart phone buried in a black box
Not much use can't charge it up
You're my Titanic lover
Way back in time
Can't seem to reach you
Always on my mind
Want to feel your body
Lying next to mine
You're my Titanic lover
Way back in time
Now you are truly mine

Poet's note: This poem came to me today as we approach the 110th year since Titanic sinking. I saw photos of ladies who perished. One from first class. Why was she not on a life boat? What if she could be saved.. a man falls in love .... He wants to save her.. this is his emotional journey
