Eternal Slumber

My time has come; as I fall,
I salute my old life.
My days of producing oxygen,
Are behind me, I leave with no strife.

As I lay upon the black soil,
I admire the bright sky so blue,
The rhythm of the dancing bees,
and riddling birds with no clue.

My job has been an important one
even when I was a shoot.
I spent my time to harden, grow,
And mainly to put some roots.

Every life on earth knows,
That after hard work comes eternal sleep.
This time is ours to be at peace
So there is no reason to weep.
