Stormbringer

Stormbringer

Upon the roots of Yggdrasil, so deep,
Grimnir walked where silent watchers sleep.
His eyes, two stars in a vast and knowing night,
Saw truths not found in mortal light.

A shadowed form beside him, bound to strife,
Stormbringer, weary of a violent life.
Her shoulders bowed beneath a heavy sky,
She watched the endless seasons wander by.

"The runes have shown the path," Grimnir said low,
"Not fate, but choices for the seeds you sow.
I saw the harbor where your heart may rest,
If you can calm the storm within your breast."

The companion sighed, a wind in leafless trees,
And spoke of gallows, wounds, and troubled seas.
But Grimnir, knowing what the seeker needs,
Planted silence, waiting for the seeds.

"The gods themselves have struggled, fought, and bled,
To learn the wisdom hidden in the thread.
You bear the fury of a warrior's soul,
But peace, not war, will someday make you whole."

Then Grimnir, with a knowing, distant gaze,
Left Stormbringer to her winding maze.
And in the quiet, by the ancient root,
A silent promise began to take its shoot.

Poet's note: It shows the troubled life of a female warrior, who has lost her way through battle and her mental state. It's written for a friend. I wanted to express her struggles and hopeful salvation. For myself the poem means hope.
