Grimnir's Sacrifice
Grimnir's Sacrifice
Grimnir wanders far and wide, treading the roots of the world tree and beyond;
Casting the runes,
Gazing into the heavens,
Seeking knowledge of the unknown.
Yggdrasil groans as Grimnir hangs,
"Back, I will accept no help,"
Gungnir pierces him,
"I will persevere."
The Norns look on.
"The secret of the runes shall reveal themselves to me."

Poet's note: I wanted to tell a short poem of Odin's search for knowledge and his struggles to gain the power of the runes. I wrote it for myself. I wrote it over the last few day's.
