Make Up Mystery

Look like a picture
Even if only
For a while

Pretty pleases

while others
men
cannot

They do look
well
silly

It stains my
high turtle neck
collar jacket

An interview for a job
in Douglas without it,
a cosmetics shop

Go on a date
washing it off before going to bed with HIM
this somewhat spoils the magic

Why me if men do not have to think
about it
now they do

And so do you
I forgot to mention
one
crutial thing
Vanity or my right to be
What
Artificially beautiful temporarily.

Poet's note: In this poem I wanted to express concern and my ambivalent attitude to make up learning towards disregard. This poem means quite a lot to me as it is one of my first poems. Women are slaves to make up.
