Scars

She wears her scars like a blanket of comfort,
Not minding what people had to say about them,
Because she knew that these weren’t ordinary scars,
They were scars of transformation,
Imprinted on her by the cruel world she lived in.

She grew out of infancy into adulthood,
With a transformation that only she understood,
The scars became her motivation in her time of desperation,
Scars of history that marks her victory,
Of a battle between her sanity and the world she lived in.

Her scars shaped the person she is today,
They’re all over her body,
They will never go away,
They’re hers and hers alone.
