Ring Of Fire
I'm caught in the ring of fire
Flames rise high, a burning ring,
Trapped in the heat, where love and pain sing...
Where happiness is supposed to exist, but it is instinct
A hollow laugh, a masked desire,
A burning heart, with love's fire...
Too hot to handle, this doesn't feel like a blessing it is, guess maybe it was never mine
A love unrequited, a heart in pain,
A flame that burns, but never meant to reign...
Two parties stuck in a misunderstanding
One loves too much the other loves in vain,
A tangled web, where hearts refuse to explain...
A bond that feels forced, one-sided love, Flames burns the one who wants a different journey
A journey apart, but tied to the flame,
A solo path, lost in love's cruel game...
How to escape, so many cries no one can hear, the pain suffered in a struggle to save the one who believes
Voices muffled, tears fall like rain,
A silent scream, in a love that's insane...
Two hearts are bound to break
One lets go, the other can't stay,
A fractured bond, in love's harsh decay...
The fire dies, leaving only ash and gray...

Poet's note: The poet wrote this poem for her lover whom she did not love she was writing based on how the relationship was at the time. The lover loved the writer too much whereas the writer knew that her feelings did not go that deep. So, she was confused as to let go or continue holding on, whether to break her lover's heart or to go against her own and continue holding on to the kind heart.
