Saddening Horror

I thought I was a hero
When I looked my self in the mirror
Until I fall in the narrow
Ditch of distress and horror

I sang the song like a sparrow
And struggle to get the honor
That gets in to the burrow
Of deep hollow, unearthed by harrow

Should I get a cool faro?
With a soul soothing swallow
To quench the thirst and sorrow
That froze the bone and marrow
