Boris Pasternak - I Want To Be The Deepest One - Translation

Boris Pasternak - I want to be the deepest one - translation

Марина Чиянова

I want to be the deepest one
In everything - in deeds I run,
In search, in joy, in fight of soul,
In every project I enrol.
Until the root of every cause,
Until the ground of every change,
Until the core, until the depth,
Until the deposit if rage.
I grasp all needs and faces bright,
U feel the spirit of delight,
I feel, I wish, I act, I dare,
My will is ground, my wish is air,
If I was passionate enough
To play around with words of love,
With silent mysteries and sighs,
I’d give my words a new design.
I’d mix all saints with outlawed souls,
With games and letters, crowns and tolls,
With fears and hopes, with shares if sin,
With all the enigmatic, dim
And might roots.
I do aware
Your name will capture my despair.
I sacrifice my words to you.
They shine so bright. They stay renewed,
As gardens, linden with a pulse
Of joyful summer. Will it pass?
Each day one flower in a row
With minty breath would fully grow.
The sky will stay a place immense
With glorious and joyful stems.
